What are Identifiers?
Scholarly identifiers are persistent digital identifiers assigned to research outputs or researchers. They provide a permanent and unique identity that improves citation accuracy, author recognition, interoperability among research systems, and long-term discoverability.
Zenodo (DOI Assignment)
Zenodo is an open-access research repository developed by CERN and supported by the European Open Science ecosystem. It enables the assignment of Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) to scholarly works, ensuring that articles can be permanently identified, cited, and accessed even if website addresses change.
A DOI provides a stable and internationally recognized link that enhances citation tracking, academic visibility, and long-term accessibility.
ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID)
ORCID provides researchers with a unique digital identifier that distinguishes them from other scholars with similar names.
An ORCID iD enables accurate attribution of scholarly work across journals, funding agencies, universities, and research databases. Authors are strongly encouraged to register for an ORCID iD and include it during manuscript submission to improve author identification and research visibility.
